Tyler will probably be doing another mixed media class starting in Jan and then be able to take the pottery class that starts in Mar. You have to be 8 to take pottery so he’s been waiting a LONG time to take it.

The Old Bag Factory & Friday School

Thursday evening found us at The Old Bag Factory for Dick Lehman’s pottery. 1st- yes, it is an old bag factory. You can read about the history here: http://www.oldbagfactory.com/history.php Now it has small shops for mostly artists. My niece, Grams, Grandpa Randy, Trent, Tyler & myself were in attendance. We went specifically for the pottery, but the rest was open so we got to browse. In order to get to the pottery studio, you have to go through the furniture store. Very nice furniture. The pottery studio was nice and we got to even see the work area. Tyler wants a work area like that some day. No pottery was brought home though, with those prices it is a little hard to support a local artist. Upstairs was a few shops, a little area that has things from the history of the building, and (wait for it……..) model trains. The people have set up a variety of different size model trains and they were there talking about them and showing them off. Yes, the 2 boys from my household were very excited about the trains. Tyler says that he like the HO size the best and now there is talk of this becoming a hobby that both of them can do together. Then we went out to dinner and came home.

Friday school went well. He improved on his spelling from Wednesday. We’ve figured out a pattern for him with spelling. He had expression and emotion as challenge words. On his spelling test they were spelling wrong (expreshion and emoshion), but “shion” is what it sounds like. So we are going to have to work a little on the “tion” and “sion“. Not a big deal after all the talk about spelling things phonetically. He finished up New Zealand in Top Secret Adventures, so he’ll be off on a new adventure this week. I think it is to Ecuador, but I’d have to look at the lesson plans to make sure. For art he did some paper weaving to make a place mat. He chose pink and blue and his colors to weave. In Science, we left dinosaurs for animals, insects and birds.

On Saturday was the art show and I’m going to put that in another post after I get the pictures off the camera.

I’ve gotten this a few times through emails and thought I would share it here. Tyler says that I don’t say all these things. I hope that’s a good thing.
